Causerie Mortelle (in english approx "Death talk")

As part of the Squatfabrik residency, that took place in Esch-sur-Alzette, tI’ve organized and facilitated a participatory experience. 

 

For 2 hours, 14 participants exchanged in an intimate and secure space, their feelings, theirs fears, their memories and anectodes on death. 

The death of a family member, the death of a friend or Death as a broader event in society.

 

Inspired by the Cafés Mortels format created in Switzerland in 2004 by Bernard Crettaz, I seek to offer the local community an opportunity to counteract the suppression of discussion around death and mourning, which has become taboo in our society.

 

The event is not a performance, but a format that I aim to install on a regular basis, hosted in local public institutions.

 

My role within this practice: to open up and hold a space of care and resistance within the society.
